What's new in Cuprea
Every update, newest first. Many of them came straight from players' reports and ideas.
Version 0.9.3 · 2026-10-09
- Wrong item? The machine says so. When a belt brings a machine something its recipe can't use (say Copper Plate into a Circuit Assembler, which needs Wire), the machine shows that item crossed out, and clicking it tells you what it needs and how to make it. (A tester's Assembler sat there with three dots and nobody could tell why: thanks for the screenshot.)
- Hub Extensions, unlocked by finishing level 4 (Masonry): place them touching the Hub, in any shape, and belt into them from any side. A bigger Hub, as asked.
- Sandbox: once one of your factories has finished level 5, the menu has a Sandbox, a world of its own where everything is unlocked and free, with an Item Source that makes any item. Try a design there, save it as a blueprint, and it's waiting in your real factory.
- Notes (N, or Notes in the menu): a notepad kept with your world, so Export and Sync carry it too.
- Blueprint links: Blueprints → Copy link gives a link that opens the game with that blueprint saved and ready to paste.
- On the website, Cuprea can now be added to your home screen like an app, and it opens even without a connection.
- Fewer false alarms: the "Something went wrong" bar no longer appears for things that aren't the game's fault (a sound Safari won't start yet, a dropped connection, an in-app browser's own script), and a single error can no longer freeze the picture.
Small fixes since
- 0.9.3.1 Settings → Theme has a High contrast option: white ground, black outlines and text, stronger borders and a clearer grid. A tester asked for it.
- 0.9.3.2 The game now asks how each of the first levels felt (one tap, a line if you like), and if nothing reaches the Hub for a few minutes a Stuck? note offers quick checks and a way to tell the developer what you're building.
- 0.9.3.7 Sell all and the Keep amounts now always leave 10 Wood and 10 Stone in the Hub, so you can always build an Extractor. A factory that already got stuck with no Extractors and nothing to build one with gets 10 of each back. From a player's report.
- 0.9.3.8 The "Note for next time" box in Settings takes spaces again (they vanished as you typed). From a player's report.
- 0.9.3.9 Fixed a crash some players got from browser autofill (a key press with no key name). From a player's crash report.
- 0.9.3.6 Phones held sideways and small game windows: the title card no longer runs off the top and bottom of the screen; it fits, and scrolls if it ever has to. Playing on the itch.io page no longer shows a button linking to the page you are already on. On phones held sideways the tip no longer runs under the Remove / Select / Undo buttons. Sending an idea with the Open the Discord button now says to post it in #suggestions.
- 0.9.3.5 Bug reports, ideas and comments can no longer get lost on the way. The email service the game used said "Report sent" for some reports it never delivered, so every report now also goes to the game's own server (the one Sync uses), and each carries a short ref id so the two copies count as one. A report counts as sent when either place takes it.
- 0.9.3.4 Throughput goals no longer read "NaN / 60 s" for their first two seconds. Buying an upgrade says what you got. The Hub's hover line no longer offers Copy and Remove; the Sign inspector points at the box below it; the rail's Discord button says 13+ like every other mention; the building inspector opens below the minimap however many rows the top menu takes; the Sandbox Hub's label fits its box; the Production chart's grid lines land on round numbers; Paste says when part of a copy can't go down here; the Bot Bay tip says where the examples are; '1 buildings' is gone. From a second playtest.
- 0.9.3.3 Clicking a Sign no longer throws an error every frame. The level-complete card waits until any other window is closed instead of opening on top of it (an Esc meant for Upgrades used to swallow the card for good). Switching a machine's recipe clears the old wrong-item warning. The level panel and the menu no longer overlap in windows under 1000 px (the menu becomes a ☰ list); the status line sits above the toolbar at every height. The start-of-world zoom is refitted once a tiny window grows. Freeplay throughput goals: a one-second dip no longer resets the Hold timer, and the panel's rounded number is the one that counts. Profiles text, the phone Controls screen (rows wrap; touch-bar wording instead of keys), the Belt tip (one input per belt; Mergers join lines) and a few words fixed. From a full playtest.
Version 0.9.2 · 2026-10-08
- Bots carry a mix: "take wire 4 / take gear 2 / take steel 1" now does what it says (a bot used to hold one kind and quietly skip the other takes). The Bot Bay panel lists what the bot is holding and says why a line did nothing — for example "Line 7: the Fabricator here won't take Gear: its input is full" — instead of staying silent.
- Bot Bay editor: the line numbers scroll with a long program. They used to drift once the program was taller than the box, so the highlighted line looked wrong — thanks for the report.
- Phones: drag a belt ghost to draw a whole line of belts; it turns with your finger. Remove now stays on until you tap ✓ Done, and a drag that starts on a building clears everything along the way.
- Phones: the menu is sorted into Your factory (Upgrades, Recipes, Contracts…) and Game (Pause, Sound, Controls, Settings, Profile).
Version 0.9.1 · 2026-10-08
- Sync by link: Profiles → Sync now also gives you a link. Open it on your phone (text it to yourself) and that world links itself — no typing the code.
- The game now says out loud that you can rename your profile and sync it: on the first level-up card, on the title screen when you come back, and in the Profiles window.
Version 0.9 · 2026-10-08
- Play the same world on your laptop and your phone. Profiles → Sync gives a profile a secret 16-letter code; on the other device, Profiles → Link a synced profile → type the code. The game saves to the cloud every half minute while you play and when you leave, and loads the newest copy when you come back. No account, no email, nothing personal — just the code, so keep it to yourself.
- If both devices changed the same world, the game asks once which version to keep. Stop on this device or Delete from server undo it at any time.
Version 0.8.4 · 2026-10-08
- Phones: the menu scrolls when it is taller than the screen, sits above the tip and the touch buttons, and closes when you tap the map. (The Profile button was hidden under Safari's bar on an iPhone — thanks for the report.)
- Contracts grow with your factory: amounts are based on what you are actually delivering per minute, and every completed contract raises the stakes and the pay a little.
- Wood far from the Hub: new wood patches spread out across the world (sand had been taking its place beyond the starting area). Your existing patches stay where they are.
- The side panel on wide screens (Discord, about) has a Hide button; Settings → Show the side panel brings it back.
- Profiles → Paste a save takes the text from Settings → Export on another device.
Version 0.8.3 · 2026-10-07
- Anonymous usage counts: the website now keeps a cookie-free tally of visits and a few milestones (level reached, buttons used) so we can see where players get stuck. No cookies, no accounts, no IP addresses kept. Settings → Share anonymous usage counts turns it off; About, privacy & terms explains it in full.
Version 0.8.2 · 2026-10-07
- Cuprea has a Discord (ages 13+): updates, help, bug reports and ideas. Find it under About, in the bug-report panel, and on the website. The game never needs it.
Version 0.8.1 · 2026-10-07
- A real title screen: the game's name, what it is, how it works in three pictures, and one Play button. It waits for you instead of vanishing on its own, and the controls stay out of sight until you start. (A tester told us the old one was "really bad". Fair.)
- Your first minute is signposted on the map: a ring and a label on the nearest wood deposit ("Extractor goes here"), then stone, and on the Hub ("Deliver here"). If the spot is off-screen, an arrow at the edge points to it.
- The Extractor's description now answers the most-asked question: one output per extractor; a Splitter (level 4) feeds two machines from one belt.
Version 0.8 · 2026-10-07
- Phones and tablets, rebuilt: a tap parks a see-through ghost, a second tap (or + Place) builds it, so a wobbly finger never drops two buildings. Drag the ghost to move it; it rides above your fingertip.
- One finger always pans the map, even with a tool armed. Hold a tile for a moment and drag to lay a line of belts. Pinching never builds anything.
- Remove on touch takes one thing per tap and switches itself off; a red frame shows while it's on. Hold and drag to clear a stretch.
- When a tap can't build, the game now says why (no deposit, not enough materials, something's already there).
- Bigger buttons everywhere on phones, the toolbar is one swipeable strip that stays open, the inspector is a bottom sheet that leaves the controls free, and a little buzz on Android when you place, remove or finish a level.
Version 0.7.1 · 2026-10-07
- Bug reports now reach the developer with one press: Settings → Bug report & comments → Send report. Copy and Save are still there if you prefer.
- Profiles are easier to find: a Profile button in the menu on every screen size, and the name chip bottom-left now looks like the button it always was.
Version 0.7 · 2026-10-07
- Music: a quiet soundtrack that grows with your factory's output. Its own volume slider is in Settings; the mute button silences everything.
- Flow view: press O (or the Flow button) to colour belts by how full they are and machines by how busy. Hover a belt to see its items per minute.
- Machines glow while they work, deliveries pop into the Hub, and the zoomed-out view colours belts by what they carry.
- Dispatch: a line of story with every level, from the first crew's dispatcher.
- Record 10 s: in the Photo window, a button that records a short clip of your factory to share.
- Safety net: the last three autosaves are kept as backups (Settings → Restore a backup), and if something breaks you get a bar with Copy error / Export save.
- Reduce motion in Settings (also follows your system setting).
Version 0.6 · 2026-10-07
- A short title card on start: Continue or start a New factory. It skips itself after a second.
- Locked tools show as silhouettes with the level they unlock at. Click one to see what that level needs.
- Road ahead at the top of the Recipe book (B): every level, what it unlocks, and where you are.
- Personal bests: the level card tells you when you beat your own time; the Daily card shows your fastest ever.
- A note for next time: "Stop here" asks what you want to do next and shows it when you come back (also in Settings).
- A mute button next to pause.
- Tubes are retired: belts are free and never the bottleneck, so a faster long-range link only meant more to learn. Tubes you already built keep working.
